सम sama
The Sanskrit term Sama means the same, equal, corresponding, balance, or equipoise. It names a state of consciousness that reflects neither attachment nor repulsion.
Within the International Nath Order it is one of the four keywords, with Sahaja, Samarasa, and Svecchachara. Shri Gurudev Mahendranath also set Sama, Samarasa, and Sahaja as the essence of the Nath way of life. Sama is the balance itself. It is not Sahaja (naturalness) and it is not Samarasa (the lasting taste of attainment). It is the counterpoise to the kleshas of attraction and repulsion. It is not a grade.
