The day of full moon, Purnima, in the month of Ashadh of the Hindu calendar, traditionally observed as Guru Purnima. On this day people offer puja to their Guru.
Within the International Nath Order the day is remembered, not commanded. Shri Gurudev Mahendranath dated The Ultimate Promulgation & Pronunciamento to Guru Purnima, 18 July 1989—the act by which he handed direction of the Order to Sri Kapilnath. The lunar timing is not the same as a Western “full moon” headline. Kapilnath’s note is the place for that distinction. Any day may be used to honor the guru.
