Dakshina is a Sanskrit term meaning a gift or offering to the Divine, or to a human guru. Made with skill and intention, it can please the chosen form and open or deepen a bond of reciprocity where none yet existed.
Within the International Nath Order that bond is not a bill. There is no fee to study. Initiation is not bought. An offering in puja or at the dhuni is work of intention, the same rule that governs an offering to Bhairava. A gift to a living teacher may still be given; it does not purchase teaching or diksha.
