Samarasa

The Sanskrit term Samarasa means equipoise in feeling: non-discriminating, the mind at rest between potential opposites.

Within the International Nath Order it stands in two lists. In The Pathless Path to Immortality it is the third stepping-stone after Pratibha and Sahaja. On Keywords it stands with Sama, Sahaja, and Svecchachara. Gorakshanath set Samarasa higher than samadhi: the peace and attainment that continue after samadhi ends, in the waking state. The Naths often used this word where other schools said moksha. It is not Sama (the balance of the mind) and it is not Sahaja (naturalness). It is not a grade conferred by initiation.
